Hunting Method

Our 6 and 10 day hunts (6 nights 5 days of hunting/10 nights 9 days of hunting)  start with clients arriving at camp on Sunday around 3pm to get unpacked and settled in. You will have a home cooked hearty meal and prepare for the first day of hunting on Monday morning. The last hunt is on Friday and  clients will depart camp on Saturday morning. We run from one main camp providing efficient access to our large outfitting area. You will rise and shine for big hearty breakfast around 8:30-9:00 am, after breakfast a bag lunch is provided for each hunter and our guides drive the clients by truck to the area they will be hunting that day and then transport you to the stand by ATV or river boat. During your hunt several different stand locations may be  utilized to put you in the best location for variables such as wind direction and bear activity. Our guides will take these factors into consideration when choosing the daily location for your hunt.

We maintain over 30 stands, all stands are well scouted, maintained and strategically situated overlooking natural black bear funnels and concentrations. Grain fields, creeks, rivers, beaver lodges, poplar ridges, spruce and, jack pine areas are used to further entice our very large black bears that roam the area. We have staggering amount of access to both private owned farmland and forest fringe area that is well known for the large populations of black and color phase bears with very large skulls and body weight. It is important that our clients hunt from mid day until dark to be in the stand during peak bear activity which generally is about an hour before sunset until dark. Bears can be very unpredictable and can show themselves at anytime during the day.

Our clients enjoy multiple bear encounters during the course of their hunt and with a little patience a 6 1/2 foot square bears can be normal. Clients are encouraged to harvest mature boars which will generally square well over this mark and have much larger skulls, we typically harvest several black and color phase bears that square over 7 foot and weigh in at 400-500 pounds with skulls ranging as high as 22″.

Scouting

Our guides are born and raised in the Saskatchewan area.  As hunters themselves, they are constantly scouting the area year round for new opportunities and new stand locations.  They are consistently hiking, running the rivers and creeks with the river boat, and watching the oat and corn fields to see what bears are using the grain fields and finding where the boars’ bedroom is located.  Scouting cameras are also used spring to fall to assist our guides as well.
